Photohydroionization®
(PHI or Photo-hydro-ionization) is an advanced Indoor Air Quality (IAQ) technology developed by RGF Environmental Group to minimize and neutralize indoor air pollutants such as bacteria, viruses, mold, gases (VOCs) and odors.
PHI utilizes a broad-spectrum, high intensity UV light targeted on a hydrated quad-metallic catalyst. The UV light in conjunction with the catalyst promotes the conversion of naturally occurring water vapor into airborne molecules of hydrogen peroxide (H2O2). These airborne H2O2 molecules revert to oxygen and hydrogen once they have come in contact with a pollutant.
Safety
It is a normal reaction to question the long-term safety of any product that is effective and uses new or ‘breakthrough’ technology. This type of question has become common with the growing demand for safe, effective and reliable indoor air quality devices.
Hydrogen peroxide naturally occurs in the air and was originally discovered in the early 1800s during experiment to “decompose” air. Additionally it has been shown to be produced naturally via photochemical, chemical and biological processes(1). Over the past 20 plus years, RGF has more than four million advanced IAQ products successfully used worldwide without a safety problem.
The breakthrough in RGF’s PHI-CELL® advanced IAQ technology is the controlled creation of hydrogen peroxide. Hydrogen peroxide is created in our atmosphere whenever three components are present: Oxygen molecules, water vapor and energy (sunlight photochemical).
Low level, airborne hydrogen peroxide is highly effective at destroying harmful microbials in the air and on surfaces. The PHI-CELL® advanced IAQ technology found in RGF’s Guardian Air, REME-HALO® and HALO-LED product families has brought natures antimicrobials found in the outside air back into the conditioned space of your home or business.
